Join us for a free, intimate 30-minute history talk and porch tour at one of East Cesar Chavez Street's rare surviving Victorian landmarks. Built in 1893 for cigar merchant George H. Berner Sr. and designated a City of Austin Historic Landmark in 2000, the Berner-Clark-Mercado House was recently restored and now operates as Maison Rêve. Learn about the Berner, Clark and Mercado families, the 1970s discovery of the hidden original porch columns, and the restoration of the wraparound porches, siding and original wood windows. Free; space is limited to 8 guests and RSVP is required. Restoration of the Berner-Clark-Mercado House has been made possible in part by a Heritage Preservation Grant from the Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment's Heritage Tourism Division.
