Dress Rehearsal - Yuliya Lanina

Dress Rehearsal is a solo exhibition by Austin-based interdisciplinary artist Yuliya Lanina at grayDUCK Gallery. Bringing together painting, sculpture, animation, handwritten text, and installation, the exhibition creates an imaginative world populated by flower-headed figures, watchful eyes, strange creatures, and transformed landscapes. The exhibition explores the space between childhood and adulthood, innocence and experience, vulnerability and resilience. Drawing from memory, autobiography, dreams, and fantasy, Lanina considers how we carry the past with us, how we reconstruct ourselves, and how creativity can offer a space for transformation. The title Dress Rehearsal suggests a place of possibility - a space to experiment, fail, begin again, and imagine who we might become. A special live performance by Lanina, And I Will Always Love You, with an original musical composition by Aida Shirazi, will take place Sunday, September 13 at 2 PM. August 29–September 26, 2026 grayDUCK Gallery, Austin Dress Rehearsal is the final exhibition at grayDUCK Gallery, marking the close of the gallery’s 16 years as an important part of Austin’s contemporary art community.
