From Combat to the Boardroom: What Transition Teaches Us About What Comes Next
Monday, October 26, 2026 · 2:00 PM at STATION Austin (Antone's, Floor 16).
What can we learn from people who have already navigated a major transition? This interactive workshop brings together attendees at different stages of professional transition to have a conversation about change, uncertainty, and what comes next. Participants will work in small groups to explore what it takes to navigate transitions - the mistakes we make, the assumptions we have to unlearn, and the fears or uncertainties that can come with figuring out what’s next. This session is for anyone navigating a transition, whether you’re moving from a large company to a startup, stepping into management, changing industries, returning to the workforce, or simply figuring out what you want your next chapter to look like. If you’re a veteran or military-connected professional transitioning into tech, we especially encourage you to join us. Everyone has something to learn and something to offer. Come ready to share something, learn something, and leave with a clearer idea of your next move. The workshop will be led by Joseph Kopser, a 20-year Army veteran and tech entrepreneur who made his own transition from military leadership to Austin’s startup world, eventually co-founding RideScout and leading it through its acquisition by Mercedes-Benz. Please note: Adding this session to your agenda does not guarantee admission. Admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis until room capacity is reached. Austin Tech Week session.
