Let the Journeys of Wonder and Beauty – Austin Civic Orchestra’s 2026-27 Season – begin! It’s time to board Flights of Fantasy for a vibrant voyage of storytelling, color, and cinematic energy. First stop: ACO’s concerto competition winner Ethyn Evans explores the unexpected lyricism and power of the symphony’s lowest instrument in Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Concerto in F Minor for Bass Tuba. Then, settle in for Barber’s atmospheric Night Flight – a vision of nocturnal mystery – before you soar with Captain Marvel (Pinar Toprak’s history-making blockbuster score). As we come in for a landing, how about some whimsy? Bruce Adolphe’s Carnival of the Creatures, narrated by beloved Austin artist Sara Hickman, invites audiences into a playful musical world where imagination takes center stage. Plan your escape for an afternoon of fantasy, storytelling, and orchestral brilliance as we open the season with wonder.
